Everything runs in your browser via WebAssembly — your raw files are never uploaded to any server.

MediaForge uses WebAssembly to parse and strip EXIF, XMP, IPTC, and PNG text chunks entirely within your browser tab. The raw file bytes never leave your machine. This is fundamentally different from server-side tools that require uploading your original file — with all its hidden metadata — to their servers for processing.

MediaForge supports JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, TIFF, GIF, SVG, and BMP for images. For video, it supports MP4 and MOV metadata stripping. Format conversion is available between supported formats with quality control.

Yes. The free Spark tier includes unlimited local processing, up to 25 CDN uploads per month, and 100 MB of CDN storage — no credit card required. Paid plans (Forge at $9/mo or ₹299/mo, Forge+ at $19/mo or ₹699/mo) add more CDN storage, bandwidth, bulk uploads, API keys, and priority processing.

The key difference is where processing happens. Cloudinary uploads your raw file to their servers for processing — your original image with all its metadata passes through their infrastructure. MediaForge processes everything locally in your browser. Your raw file never leaves your device. For privacy-sensitive use cases, this architectural difference is significant.

No. All file processing — metadata stripping, format conversion, compression, and resizing — happens entirely in your browser. MediaForge only uploads files to the CDN if you explicitly choose to host them after processing. Even then, only the already-cleaned file is uploaded via a presigned URL — the API server never handles your file bytes.

Most smartphone photos contain 40+ hidden metadata fields including exact GPS coordinates (accurate to 3 meters), device model and serial number, date/time stamps, camera settings, software used, and sometimes embedded thumbnails that may contain the original unedited image. Anyone who downloads your photo can extract all of this data.

Yes. MediaForge can strip GPS coordinates and QuickTime metadata atoms from MP4 and MOV video files locally in your browser. Full video transcoding support is planned for future releases.
